Monday, November 19th 2012: DTF Free Comedy

8PM TONIGHT (no cover):

From Erin Lennox:  It’s that time of the bi-month! This Monday Nov 19 at 8pm DTF is back and maybe the best ever. This week Nick and I welcome these former child prostitutes to the DTF stage:
  • Jermaine Fowler (MTV, Comedy Central, Eric Andre Show, In Living Color, College Humor): “On his 20th birthday, Jermaine Fowler, moved to New York City from Washington D.C. with a small suitcase and big dreams.  Soon after, he was being acknowledged in the New York Post’s 50 Funniest Jokes alongside David Letterman and Jay Leno.  He’s performed in festivals across the country like the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival where he won the Rooftop Comedy Silver Nail Award.  He’s also performed as a finalist in NBC’s Stand Up for Diversity and is currently on tour with Comedy Central.  He is regularly featured on CollegeHumor.com and you may recognize him in commercials for SoBe Lifewater, Bud Light, Scion (Comedy Central), and Microsoft Bing.  Jermaine was recently chosen by ABC to act in their 10th Annual Diversity Showcase.  Now 24, you can catch Jermaine on SyFy’s brand new series “Insane or Inspired”, Adult Swim’s The Eric Andre Show, and the reboot pilot of In Living Color.  Jermaine is also a professional in writing in third person.”
  • Chris Distefano (MTV, Comedy Central, Comics to Watch): “Described as a ‘high energy’ comic, Chris Distefano acts out different characters that you probably don’t know and makes you sit on the edge of your seat wanting to say ‘Who the hell is that he’s talking about?’  Chris has worked in various comedy clubs across New York City, not limited to but including: Gotham Comedy Club, Broadway Comedy Club, and the Laugh Lounge.  Chris still lives in Queens, NY with his Mom (punch line).  Chris has a Bachelors degree in Psychology to impress his mom’s friends, and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy to impress his Mom’s friends’ Moms. When he’s not making witty punch lines or acting out his various characters on stage you can find him stretching people’s hamstrings and getting yelled at to clean his room.”
  • Anthony Devito (MTV, Montreal Comedy Festival): “Anthony DeVito is a comic performing in New York City.  He was recently featured as one of the New Faces at the 2012 Montreal Just for Laughs Festival and is also the former host of ‘Say What?!’ on the NOC TV.  I love you.”

  • Amber Nelson (UCB):  “Amber Nelson is a New York based comedian who performs stand up, sketch, and improv at UCB and throughout.  She is currently on the UCB Maude Night team The Prom, and has previously performed with Thunder Gulch, Neighbor Boy, and Gorilla Gorilla.  She hosts the UCB East stand up show Late Night Stand with Rob Stern, where they previously hosted Gutbucket.  Amber is also a part of Eric Drysdale’s The Man With F.E.E.E.T. and has performed the piece in Los Angeles and New York.  She is typing this on her couch at the moment, and thinking of making a snack.”
  • Brent Sullivan: “Brent Sullivan, a 25-year-old New York City-based stand-up comedian, describes his act as a true interpretation of himself on stage. Full of dichotomies, he most appreciates being described as ?gay — but not gay.? Brent has honed his act around a variety of themes that all fit within the typical gay American life, but without the stereotypical attitude that plagues most gay comedians. His hysterical, unique approach and refreshing take on conventional gay issues promises to bring gay comedy to a new level of mainstream acceptance.”
  • Peggy O’Leary (Bleak Comedy): “Peggy O’Leary is an actress, writer and filmmaker living it up in Brooklyn, by way of the suburbs of Philly.  She graduated from School of Visual Arts in Manhattan with a degree in Film and Video in May of 2009.  Her short film Seven Oaks was featured in a German Film Festival That She Can’t Spell in January 2010.  She has taken improv and story-telling classes at UCB with such wonderful people as Lennon Parham, Margot Leitman, Doug Moe, Gavin Speiller, Erik Tanouye and Zach Woods.  She is so very happy the boys of BLEAK! Comedy and her get to perform STOMACHTOWN here at the Theatre.  Besides BLEAK! shows you can catch her doing stand up comedy at various bars and shady apartment buildings all over the 5 boros.  You can see all her videos and student films here.”
  • Co-host Nick Maritato: “Nick crushes planets with his crippling death-light (totally awesome).”
