Colby Devereux Presents: “Born in Texas, William Colby Devereux arrived in New York a few years ago by way of Oxford, Mississippi. While performing music and recording on his own, he worked as a production assistant and engineer at Sweet Tea studios in Oxford with producer Dennis Herring (Modest Mouse, Cracker, Elvis Costello) and engineer Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Kings of Leon), most notably on the 2004 Grammy winning Buddy Guy album, Blues Singer” (from his bio at Copperfish Sound). The Supernatural: “Begun in 1994 by producer/ engineer Colby Devereux in Oxford, Mississippi, The Supernatural released it’s first record in 1998, the self-produced Butterfly. The Supernatural brings to mind the great psychedelic sounds of the 60’s and early 70’s, but adds its own spin by combining the sound with what is great about the present indie movement. But don’t think that this music is mellow, quite the contrary, it could go anywhere.” Listen here.
John Witherow: “John Witherow is a Brooklyn New York based musician, performer and songwriter. His likes and dislikes range from the commonplace to the absurd and everything in between. Some people say his music is rooted in traditional American folk and rock & roll. Some other people say he is inconsistent in his description of himself… but what the people don’t know, won’t hurt them” (ReverbNation bio). Listen here.
Cows Like Shrimp: “Cows Like Shrimp is a band I’ve been playing bass in for about five years, on and off. Originally, we were called “The Seftones”, after Sefton Stallard, the lead singer and guitarist. Sefton, who I’ve know for almost 15 years, is the main driving force behind the band. In addition to myself and Sefton, we have a few drummers who rotate in and out depending on their availability, and strangely enough are both named “Pete.” Lately we’ve added an additional guitarist, Doug Kennedy, so we’re a four piece playing original music. Since I work in the studio alone for many hours a day, it’s a nice chance to collaborate and do a form of art that’s social” (from an interview with Jen Ferguson). Listen here.
Las Hormiguitas:
“Trashy Sludgy Grimy Surf Rock n Roll. Las Hormiguitas aiming to conquer the world one town at a time.”
